13 Years!

As a follow up to my last post about couples and taking time for each other.  I wanted to introduce you to a couple of my friends.  Bridget and James.  Bridget has a son whose literally days apart same age as my son.  They are two peas in a pod.  They also have a spit-fire daughter who my daughter equally adores.  So- with kid friendships comes mom friendships.  Well sometimes.  But that’s a different story, but can I get an amen on that?

Luckily, this time meant that my son gained a pretty awesome best friend and I gained a new friend in my elite circle of friends.  Okay, so maybe not elite.  Maybe more just I’m a recluse and and super lazy selective about who I come out of my burrow for.  Seems kinda elite to me.

Bridget and her husband James have been married for 13 years and probably a day or two depending on when I actually finish and post this!   Could be 13 years and 362 days.  Who knows. What I do know is, these two are adorable.  Marriage like I said, isn’t easy.  Marriage +Kids can be even harder.  But also soo soo awesome.  I think after we have kids we get so focused on those little creatures couple time is often overlooked.  These two are like those cool Austin parents who like, do stuff.  With their kids.  I sometimes take my kids to the pool.  These guys really do stuff.  I can’ think of anything off the top of my head but I’m pretty sure the stuff they do involves an Austin area code. They also hang, just the two of them.  Which is pretty cool.  And they’re both not hard to look at.  Which is awkward to say. So awkward that I don’t know where to go from here..

Right, well…

Magan and I really really wanted to do an emphasis on couples at various stages in their lives.  Family photos are so important.  But post family couple photos are almost unheard of.  But why?  What better thing to show our children when they get older, than their parents in love?  So, yes. I don’t like my husband most some of the time.  But it doesn’t mean I don’t love him.  And guess what guys? It started with the two of you so why not celebrate that?!  We were so glad Bridget stepped out of her comfort zone and let me doll her up.  Y’all her hair is naturally that curly. I did go through it all and recurl using the same size barrel curling iron as her natural curls, just to tidy it up a bit, but thats all this girl.  Man I want fierce curly hair.  Bridget also is one of those disgustingly pretty people who don’t wear a lot of makeup.  It was a big step for her to let me put on more than she normally would wear.  Which from the pictures doesn’t look like that much, but thats why its important to go a little above what you normally do for picture sake.

You’d never know but it was pouring down rain 5 minutes before we took any of these pictures.  We almost thought they weren’t going to happen!
