Graceful Grace

I often get asked if I’ve done Asian makeup before, prior to my Asian clients booking.  Being Asian myself I completely understand the struggle of finding someone who can actually work with different hair textures and eye shapes.  Although you’d think I’d have had tons of practice on myself.  I’m not the greatest walking business card.  I recently just started wearing mascara.  Please don’t throw rocks at me!  I’ve seen the error of my ways, and I now I know the true magic behind it.  But when you have straight lashes that actually have ZERO curl, you’d understand the struggle!  At any rate, I am familiar with the struggles.. #thestruggleisreal

So anyway- it was great meeting Grace.  A fellow Korean.  Her, and her family were so kind and gracious.  We had such a great time working together.  Her photographer Luxe Photography  did such an amazing job capturing her sweet spirit.

Loving what I do

I always consider it a HUGE honor when I’m asked to be involved in special projects.  Especially when it’s for amazing photographers and an amazing designer.

The amazing, amazing ladies at Loft Photography and the insanely talented  designer Ivana with Saint Isbael Bridal and I got together to work on Saint Isabel’s lookbook.  Anytime I work with Loft Photography I know that the pictures will be amazing.  I’ve never met a dress designer in person.  So it was amazing to get to talk with someone and hear the process and the time and energy that goes into each piece.  Each one of her dresses were carefully made, and it shows.

I do have to warn you.  The pictures.. the dresses..  stunning.

Thats all I have to say about that.-  Forrest Gump

Katy

Where do I begin with sweet and soo soo pretty Katy?

Let’s begin by mentioning that one of my favorite people and photographers shot this wedding.  Magan with Urban Grey   referred me to Katy a while back.  She always sends me the sweetest of clients so of course I was excited to work with her.  It’s one of those thing where you’re really hoping the trial goes well.  You don’t want your friend to look bad for referring someone who does bad work, and you don’t want someone to think you do bad work!  Stressful all around.

You know what’s not stressful?  Katy.  Katy is a doll.  So stress free, so sweet, and easy going.  I had a lot of fun working with her and her bridesmaids on her wedding day.  I will say though.  That not everything was a peaches and roses.  Peaches and roses.  Is that even right?  Well anyway.  Not everything was dandy.  ( I have this uncontrollable need to use non-boring adjectives.  So I can’t just say, everything was not awesome.. dang it.  SEE?!, awesome would have been perfect.  )  Katy struggles with perfect skin syndrome.  Like  She doesn’t have pores.  Or wrinkles.  Or blemishes.  Her skin is perfect.  Ugh, and her hair.  Shiny.  Who has perfect hair and skin?!  Katy.  That’s who.

For Katy we did her hair in a romantic and timeless updo, airbrush makeup with natural looking lashes.  Her bridesmaids also chose classic updos as well.

On with the show.

Gypsy lovin’

I had the absolute pleasure of working with the incredibly talented ladies with Gypsy Floral and Events.   It was soo much fun.  I met Sunni and Emily out at Sunni’s parents house in Smithville.  Can I just say, I wanted to steal her parents house.  Can you steal a house?  I’m going to google it.. and then I’m gonna try.  It’s this adorable farm house out in the middle of the country, with acres separating them from neighbors.  A white picket fence and hardwood floors.  Her mom has this eclectic style that meshes soo well together.  I wanted every single bit of everything in that house.   Okay sorry, where was I?

Riiiight.  The photo shoot.  The girls with GFE contacted me asking if I was interested in doing an “enchanted forest” themed shoot.  Who says “no” to something like that?  So I mosied (spell check says that’s not a word, but I think spell check must be from up North) on down to said adorable house and met said adorable ladies and got started.  They wanted something that would go with this incredible dress they had on loan so we decided on a whimsical updo that would be easy enough to take down for a second look.

The shoot itself was on a friends land which is also on my “to steal list”.

Julie Wilhite was the ah-mazing photographer who was so great to work with.  I think with all of the photographer options out there, the talent is endless, but finding a photographer that really captures the beauty in people and in the details is soo important.  Do you know what else is important?  Hiring a photographer that’s fun to to work with.   These folks are going to be all up in your face- and you you definitely don’t want one of those awkward boring photographers!  Ms. Wilhite meets all said requirements!

The set up was breathtaking.  Seriously one of the prettiest most awesome sets I’ve ever worked on.  The talent here is endless.  So much so that the shoot was featured on GreenWeddingShoes.com!  <– click it to check out the actual feature.

Lets enjoy some awesomeness shall we?

Ramie!

So excited that Ramie got featured on Style Me Pretty!

Ramie was (still is!) gorgeous, her bridesmaids and family were gorgeous, and her wedding was gorgeous. So this news comes as no surprise to me.

Coming from a military family and having close friends currently serving overseas I have a tender spot for people who serve our country.   Oh and Ramie is half Korean!  It’s like the perfect combo of love for me.  Ramie was also funny, laid back, and super sweet.  So this made working with her a dream.   We got ready at Vintage Villas, where Ramie wanted a romantic and “messy” updo, with smokey eyes.  She pulled off each look perfectly.

Check out some of the shots I swiped off of SMP!
