Loving what I do

I always consider it a HUGE honor when I’m asked to be involved in special projects.  Especially when it’s for amazing photographers and an amazing designer.

The amazing, amazing ladies at Loft Photography and the insanely talented  designer Ivana with Saint Isbael Bridal and I got together to work on Saint Isabel’s lookbook.  Anytime I work with Loft Photography I know that the pictures will be amazing.  I’ve never met a dress designer in person.  So it was amazing to get to talk with someone and hear the process and the time and energy that goes into each piece.  Each one of her dresses were carefully made, and it shows.

I do have to warn you.  The pictures.. the dresses..  stunning.

Thats all I have to say about that.-  Forrest Gump

Gypsy lovin’

I had the absolute pleasure of working with the incredibly talented ladies with Gypsy Floral and Events.   It was soo much fun.  I met Sunni and Emily out at Sunni’s parents house in Smithville.  Can I just say, I wanted to steal her parents house.  Can you steal a house?  I’m going to google it.. and then I’m gonna try.  It’s this adorable farm house out in the middle of the country, with acres separating them from neighbors.  A white picket fence and hardwood floors.  Her mom has this eclectic style that meshes soo well together.  I wanted every single bit of everything in that house.   Okay sorry, where was I?

Riiiight.  The photo shoot.  The girls with GFE contacted me asking if I was interested in doing an “enchanted forest” themed shoot.  Who says “no” to something like that?  So I mosied (spell check says that’s not a word, but I think spell check must be from up North) on down to said adorable house and met said adorable ladies and got started.  They wanted something that would go with this incredible dress they had on loan so we decided on a whimsical updo that would be easy enough to take down for a second look.

The shoot itself was on a friends land which is also on my “to steal list”.

Julie Wilhite was the ah-mazing photographer who was so great to work with.  I think with all of the photographer options out there, the talent is endless, but finding a photographer that really captures the beauty in people and in the details is soo important.  Do you know what else is important?  Hiring a photographer that’s fun to to work with.   These folks are going to be all up in your face- and you you definitely don’t want one of those awkward boring photographers!  Ms. Wilhite meets all said requirements!

The set up was breathtaking.  Seriously one of the prettiest most awesome sets I’ve ever worked on.  The talent here is endless.  So much so that the shoot was featured on GreenWeddingShoes.com!  <– click it to check out the actual feature.

Lets enjoy some awesomeness shall we?

Would ya lookie there…

Another post?  In the same month?  Insane isn’t it?  Well I put out a subtle bat-call the other day asking my past brides to send me some pictures of their wedding day.  Well.  That didn’t work.  (I’m totally giving you the side eye right now) So I did what any reasonably desperate girl would do.  I begged.  Kinda. I’m not much of a beggar.  And I don’t like asking for things.  Which may be why I only have 51 “likes” on Facebook.  Which is fine.  I’m sure you guys are just trying to keep me humble.  And don’t want me getting all popular and selling out to the “Man”.  I totally get it.  And I appreciate you having my back on this one.

But that’s not why I’m here.  I’m here because one of the brides that I begged.  Okay so the only bride I asked (hey, I’m lazy.  Don’t act like you didn’t know this) responded within minutes with her fabulous pictures.  And you know why?  Because she’s freakin’ fabulous.   I really do dig this chick.  She’s funny, sarcastic, sweet, and gorgeous.   Killer combo if you ask me.  Her bridesmaids were all really awesome as well.  Deadly combo!

Jessica got married at Texas Old Town.  Which is a really cute place out in Kyle.  Her wedding day happened to be on the very same day that we actually got rain.  After a seriously hazardous drought.  It rains on lovely Jessica’s wedding day.  And, she didn’t care.  Which is why I think the Big Guy upstairs smiled on her and stopped the rain during her outdoor ceremony.  And you know what they say- “A wet knot is hard to untie”.

For the love of all things blingy!  There is nothing about her look that I don’t just love!

Jessica- you were amazing.  You were gorgeous before I even got a hold of you, and I’m greatful I was able to be a part of your big day.  May your knot forever be wet!

The Early Bird..

Gets the gorgeous wedding!

How many times does a girl have to say, “organic” or “bohemian” or “natural” or “other earthy words” until you get the point that I am a closet hippy.  I think I’ve said it on this blog before.  I am a hairy armpit away from being a full fledged granola I tell you!

So back to the bride.. I guess.  Kristin.  I met her and her lovely mother at my house for a trial, and when I first saw Kristin, I was in love.  She weighs a whole 89 cents and was sporting a cute.. moo moo.  I know.  It sounds terrible.  But it was of the shorter variety and definitely more trendy.  And looked amazing on her.  She had on other cute stuff too but I don’t want to get into too much detail about that because I’m trying to avoid making my blog seem creepy.  The point is to draw people in after-all.  Not red flag the FBI.

Man, I need to get this ADD looked into.

Kristin’s wedding (Like how I segwayed right into the wedding bit?) was in the AM as to spare her guests the sweltering Texas summer weather.  Her and her friends stayed up getting flowers ready and just spending time together.  We started fairly early, I believe at 6am.  When I walked into her hotel room at the Stephen F. Austin it was Fuh-Reezing!  And I loved every bit of it.  They had to keep it cold so that the flowers would stay fresh.  And quite frankly.  I think it helped Angela stay fresh as well.  What does this have to do with anything?  Well, I just like to keep my future brides abreast as to how I like things on the wedding day.  Being that it is all about me after-all.  Kristin opted for standard foundation and a super natural makeup look.  We did a romantic and loose updo with a few braids mixed in, in honor of our bohemian love.   Ooh.. I like that.  I think I’ll name our next kid- Bohemian Love.  Done, and Done.

Here are some pictures of the day in question.  Pictures once again courtesy of the amazing photographers The Nichols

Some of the bridesmaids even got in on the action!

I realize that I normally do individual posts but I am having computer issues so I wanted to get these up here. And I’m limited on time so I knew if I tried to do them all separately it wouldn’t happen. But it doesn’t mean I don’t love you ladies separately. I love each and every one of you equally. Promise!

Every now and then you have one of those weddings that make you want to quit the industry. You can’t wait to be done, and just be home. Well.. this wasn’t one of them! Cassie was a hoot. Except I may start charging extra for people who have an unnecessarily large amount of hair. This girls has A LOT of hair. Like. I think if she just got a trim, she could wig a country of bald people for a week. I don’t know why this country is bald, or why they need wigs for just a week. But just go with me here. Anyway. I ended doing hair and makeup for Cassie and her wedding party as well as her oh so awesome mother in law. Guys, her mother in law rocks. I wanted to adopt her. I love, love, love my MIL but should I ever get the opportunity to have an extra.. She’d be my extra!

I first met Cassie when she was doing her bridal portraits at the always gorgeous, and always amazing Vista West Ranch. Shannon Cunningham the photographer who oozes talent was there snapping away while we all laughed and had an awesome time.

We met up again on her actual wedding day where I got to meet her amazing and gorgeous bridesmaids all who got and appreciated my sarcastic sense of humor. All whom I love and adore! Cassie wanted an updo to help stay cool in the “warm” Texas weather, also because of her plethora of hair. We ended up curling the whole thing and putting it up in a romantic but “messy/textured” updo. We went with a “sexy natural” makeup look as well.

Thanks Cassie and family! Love you guys!

I met Lyndsey and her mom first for her bridal portraits. They were both really awesome to get to know. Lyndsey’s mom and I talked about raising children, and she gave me helpful tips and told me a little about knitting even! Lyndsey is gorgeous guys. I remember seeing her and thinking, wow she’s really pretty. Random I know. If you haven’t gathered that I am “random” by now, you have some catching up to do! Lyndsey and I talked about how relaxed she wanted her wedding to be. See Lyndsey was super laid back and just really easy to be around. She was definitely a breath of fresh air! I remember her bridal portraits taking a little bit longer than I normally like to take because it was just so calm. I didn’t have that sense of rush. Now don’t go thinking she didn’t make her pictures on time. She did. I personally like to be done sooner than planned that way there is relax time.
On her wedding day she opted for a smooth updo with a low full “bun”. I really have to come up with another word for “bun” because for me personally, I immediately think of a ballerina with tight hair and a perfectly round bun. Which is lovely but not for everyone.

Lyndsey also made her own little hair bobby pins to wear on the big day.

I remember her hair curling very shiny too. She’s one of those people blessed with really pretty hair, that curls perfectly! Its not fair. You know what else is awesome? She sent me her pictures without me even having to email and ask her. I love her already. I mean, I loved her then- but now I really love her. Border-lining creepy love her. Borderline….

Sweet Hayley! I initially met Hayley at her bridal portraits as well. It was in the early AM and the weather was drizzly. Hayley has two sweet doglets who I loved. Hayley wanted a very elegant updo with a classic bun. She also had a tiara/headband that she wanted to incorporate into the hairstyle. I remember Hayley and her mom asking a lot of questions (not remotely in the bad way) and just soaking in the information. It was really great being with them. I love sharing my product knowledge. And despite the not so great weather Hayley was still in good spirits and just super positive. Love her.

On Hayley’s wedding day we arrived to a room full of lively bridesmaids. They were good conversationalist! I believe there was even a doctor in the mix. But I didn’t score any free RX’s out of it. Such a bummer. I kid!
Hayley had a flower girl who was set on a certain hair piece that wasn’t really jiving with the “look” of the wedding. I believe the FG’s grandmother ended up buying this super gorgeous headband (Which I wanted!) that happen to be worn by THE Taylor Swift <--wink wink! So of course she wanted to wear that one instead of the not so great one!

You know what else I rememeber? Hating Hayley. The girl doesn’t have a single pore. Her skin is this gorgeous milky color, without a single blemish. The girl doesn’t have a single pore! At least it made my job just a bit easier!
Sigh. So here are her poreless pictures.
