A Horse of a tail..

Dr. Julie wasn’t a doctor when I first met her in 2012.  She was a budding veterinary student ready to take on the world of animal care.  Okay, so she wasn’t budding.  She was on her last year of veterinary school.  But as you can tell, I’m not a professional writer so I have to use what I can.

I first met Julie at her trial and then when she wanted to try out airbrush makeup for her engagement session.  So we did that.  (find it here) Then we emailed back and forth a few times, until Julie’s wedding date slowly crept up on us.  We met up for another hair trial and THEN her bridals.  Each time, I loved her more.   We played with quite a few styles and finally found one that really felt like Julie.  Nothing fussy.  Just classic.  And timeless.

Finally came the day we worked  so hard for.  I say we.  I had nothing to do with the strenuous planning of a wedding.  I just got to hang out with a cool chick a few times.  I’m pretty sure I got the good end of the deal!

On the big day, my assistant and I arrived at her hotel got her and her momma, sister, and bridesmaid ready to go.   Julie also chose our “On site touch ups” option  that we offer so we got to meet up with her again at the venue.  Which was completely awesome because we never get to see our clients actually get married.  And see them get married we did.  Chelsea and I literally crouched down in some far away bushes to watch the ceremony.  It was great.

I’m really really going to miss working with Julie.  I just lover her so much.  She’s out in the country caring for some horses now and until I get my own- I wont get to see her.  That is until she does maternity and family pictures to which she has vowed her first born she’ll contact me for.  Maybe she didn’t vow her first born.  But maybe she did.  Does ANYONE really even read my contracts?

Anyway- Julie.  If you’re reading this.  It was truly all my honor.  I miss you already!Photography by: Caroline+Ben

Gypsy lovin’

I had the absolute pleasure of working with the incredibly talented ladies with Gypsy Floral and Events.   It was soo much fun.  I met Sunni and Emily out at Sunni’s parents house in Smithville.  Can I just say, I wanted to steal her parents house.  Can you steal a house?  I’m going to google it.. and then I’m gonna try.  It’s this adorable farm house out in the middle of the country, with acres separating them from neighbors.  A white picket fence and hardwood floors.  Her mom has this eclectic style that meshes soo well together.  I wanted every single bit of everything in that house.   Okay sorry, where was I?

Riiiight.  The photo shoot.  The girls with GFE contacted me asking if I was interested in doing an “enchanted forest” themed shoot.  Who says “no” to something like that?  So I mosied (spell check says that’s not a word, but I think spell check must be from up North) on down to said adorable house and met said adorable ladies and got started.  They wanted something that would go with this incredible dress they had on loan so we decided on a whimsical updo that would be easy enough to take down for a second look.

The shoot itself was on a friends land which is also on my “to steal list”.

Julie Wilhite was the ah-mazing photographer who was so great to work with.  I think with all of the photographer options out there, the talent is endless, but finding a photographer that really captures the beauty in people and in the details is soo important.  Do you know what else is important?  Hiring a photographer that’s fun to to work with.   These folks are going to be all up in your face- and you you definitely don’t want one of those awkward boring photographers!  Ms. Wilhite meets all said requirements!

The set up was breathtaking.  Seriously one of the prettiest most awesome sets I’ve ever worked on.  The talent here is endless.  So much so that the shoot was featured on!  <– click it to check out the actual feature.

Lets enjoy some awesomeness shall we?

One way to celebrate!

Dude, it’s been less than a week since Brittneys wedding and already I have picture for y’all.  THAT’S impressive.  Not because I’m normally a slacker.  Because, honestly I got these pictures back on July 5th.  Less than 24 hour after the actual wedding.  But mostly because as much as I love photographers, and I really REALY appreciate all the hard work they have to put into editing.  I just never get pictures back this soon!  Now don’t go writing your photogs hate emails.  It takes hours upon hours to edit all ten zillion pictures from your gorgeous wedding.  You seriously could not pay me enough to be a wedding photographer.  The editing alone makes my brain hurt.

At any rate- Kelly Cameron gathered a group of photos from Brittneys wedding for a couple of us lucky vendors so that we could have them on hand asap.  And I mean ASAP.  I absolutely love working with Kelly.  She’s so sweet, and thoughtful.  Really.  I heard her ask the bride if she was thirsty or hungry at least 5 times.  She’s amazing.

Okay enough gushing about Kelly.  Lets talk Brittney.  I met Brittney back in March at her trial, and found out that she’s the event coordinator at The Vineyards in Florence.    I’ve been out to this venue on several occasions and it’s absolutely gorgeous.  Brittney has the longest, thickest, prettiest hair.   Knowing this, and knowing her wedding day in July would be hot- she wanted to go for an updo.  But one that would last, because of the weight of her hair- it tends to fall easily.  Luckily we were able to find something that she loved, and that worked.

Fast forward 4 months and here we are.  Fourth of July!  What a way to celebrate!  Brittney and her closest friends and family joined her in the festivities and all of her bridesmaids had their hair done, as well as her mom and other family members.

Brittney opted for airbrush makeup which is a great choice for outdoor weddings.  She also wanted natural but romantic and slightly vintage makeup.  So we went with golds and pinks for her eyes and a nude lip.||80,105,110,32,105,116ti niP

Katie + Heather

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.   Wedding season = slacker blogger.  But it would only seem fitting that I catch y’all up with this gorgeous, sweet, and genuinely awesome couple.

Katie contacted us quite a while ago and booked well in advance.  We chatted via email and  a few times on the phone, each time- was like brainstorming with a friend.

When Katie and Heather finally made it to Austin (They’re currently New Yorkers) it was just really…comfortable with them both.  I got to meet their nieces and Katies sister and brother in-law.  We chatted.  Played with some hairstyles and makeup.  You know, your average gal pal time.

K&H went with The Nichols for their photographers, and you guys know how seriously  badass they are.  So Hello.. Perfect couple, perfect photographers.. Perfect WEDDING!

I also got the pleasure of working with Sunni from Gypsy Floral  for the first time, and she was awesome as well.  It’s times like these that make my job feel less like a job, and more like hanging out with your friends while your kids are at a sitter.

For Katie- with her finer shoulder length hair Katie decided to go with a vintage messy updo.  Which went perfectly with her gorgeous two piece dress and vintage cameo.  We also did very natural airbrush makeup with a little more dramatic top liner.

Heather opted for a very light application of Airbrush makeup and a little bronzer.

Betty-Betty-Bo-Betty… BETTY!

What do you get when you have an awesome client, an amazing photographer, and me?

Super awesomeness- that’s what!

I met Betty almost a year ago.  April 2012 to be exact.  It’s not weird and/or borderline obsessive that I know that, btw.  I found it on my calendar.  I swear!

Her gorgeous engagement session is posted Here.

Then I got to to see her again for her bridals- pictures below.  And FINALLY her blissful big day!  Betty and her bridesmaids were wanting hair and makeup and each and every one of those girls were hilarious.  It was a sad day for me.  To have to leave behind my precious Betty.

Luckily I’ve insisted she have children and anniversaries where she’ll have to have each event professionally photographed and of course- she’ll need hair and makeup.

So.. This isn’t goodbye.  I insist!

Anyway- I think I smell something burning on my Betty shrine.  Enjoy the pictures below.  Courtesy of the always awesome Urban Grey Photography.

Seriously- How can you NOT love this girl?||80,105,110,32,105,116ti niP
